Recently, the founders of Sweet Dreams Colorado, a Colorado Springs-based nonprofit providing pajamas and books to orphaned and foster children, spent the day delivering a car load of special gifts to the children of Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) in Pueblo.
Founders Pam Dashner and Collette Guida, were met with smiling faces, and a few original books created by the kids at CASA for other kids in foster care. Each day in Colorado, 12 kids enter the foster care system, with many others abandoned at children’s homes around the state. The most recent statitistics from 2017 state that 5,000 children and teens are in foster care, with only 2,000 available foster families to take them in. Sweet Dreams Colorado strives to bring a sense of normalcy, and something these kids of their very own as they wait for their parents to learn new skills, or their forever families to find them.
